AUTOMATED RESIDENTIAL SOLAR PERMITTING

Contractors can now use SolarAPP+ for instantaneous rooftop solar permitting in the City of Monterey Park. 

What is SolarAPP+:
It's an automated online application for the instantaneous permitting of new residential rooftop solar and storage systems. 

Why use SolarAPP+:

  • Obtain a permit without needing a full plan diagram
  • Expedites installation with instantaneous permit issuance once you've completed the application

As a result, SolarAPP+ expedites solar installations, encouraging property owners to invest in generating renewable and sustainable energy.  To see which systems are eligible, please refer to the Eligibility Checklist. Only projects that conform to this list are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting. All other Solar/PV installations require a submittal to the city’s One Stop Permit Center.

Important Note:
A valid City of Monterey Park business license is required to pull a permit in Monterey Park using SolarAPP+. You may apply for a contractor business license HERE.

How To Get Started:

  1. If you are a licensed contractor or installer, you may register for a new SolarAPP+ account (Owner-builders must apply to the city’s One Stop Permit Center.) 
  2. After registering with SolarAPP+, it's as simple as:

    a. Apply for pre-approval on the SolarAPP+ website.
    b. Go to the City of Monterey Park Solar APP+ online permit site 
    c. Click on the Building category and select "Residential Solar" 
    Note: You will need to log into your online account or register for an account if you do not have one.
    d. Follow the on-screen instructions to fill out the application, making sure to enter the SolarAPP+ pre-approval ID number you were issued by SolarAPP+ and upload all required documentation.
    e. Once you've paid all applicable fees your permit will be immediately issued electronically.
