Heavy rainfall from storms may cause the slopes in our community to be saturated and lend themselves to mudslides. The City of Monterey Park is concerned about your property and your safety. Provided below is some helpful information to prepare for heavy rains especially if your property is located in hillside areas:

Sandbags General Info

The City makes sandbag supplies available to residents 48 hours before forecasted local storm activity during certain storm conditions. During these events, residents can pick up sandbag supplies from the City Yard, while supplies last.

Sand and sandbags will be free with a 20 bag limit; however, residents will need to fill and transport their own bags. These items are offered to Monterey Park residents only upon presentation of a valid I.D. containing a valid Monterey Park address for pickup of supplies.

Sand and sandbags are only available when announced - they are not available on a regular basis. Plastic sheeting for hillside protection can be obtained from home improvement stores or other outlets.
