The Neighborhood Engagement Team (NET) is a bureau within the city police department. The Police Department formed the Neighborhood Engagement Team (NET) in the spring of 2020 with the task of assisting the city’s unsheltered individuals and those experiencing a mental health crisis with street outreach services to include rapid rehousing navigation and ongoing support services. It is staffed with one Police Sergeant, one Detective, three officers, one social worker who is a homeless outreach /housing navigation coordinator and one LA County Social Worker. The homeless situation in the city of Monterey Park fluctuates as our city boarders three freeways (710, 10 and 60) and because of this, the NET team encounters approximately 100 unsheltered persons a month and of that population, approximately 10% receive services from NET.
