For Teachers

The Children's Department offers a variety of services specifically for our students and teachers. Our staff is eager to support teachers' needs and student learning, both in the classroom and at the library. Let us know how we can help!

Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Educator Night

Educators who work or live in Monterey Park are invited to learn about Library programs and services for students in grades K-12 on Tuesday, September 5 at 6 p.m. in the Friends Room. Educators can also register for library cards and speak with staff about their individual classroom needs. Refreshments will be provided and attendees will be entered into a raffle. To register, call Adult Services at (626) 307-1368 or visit https://forms.gle/ydSxtgYdxQFsZaVU6.

Class Visits

Introduce your students to the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library by bringing them by for a visit, or have one of our librarians visit your classroom. To schedule a class visit, email Children's Librarian Lauren Frazier or call (626) 307-1358.

Visits at the Library

Visits to the library typically last about an hour and may include a tour of the library and a storytime. Visits are scheduled on Friday mornings.

Visits in Your Classroom

Our librarians are happy to visit your classroom during the school year. Visits can be tailored to your specific needs, including book talks, storytimes, database tutorials, and library skills instruction.

School Events

Librarians are available to share information about library resources and programs and register students for library cards at school events including Back-to-School Night, Open House, Read Across America, parent workshops and more.

Library Cards

Anyone residing in the state of California is eligible to apply for a library card. You do not need to live in Monterey Park to apply for a library card. Applicants must present a valid California Driver's License or ID or both a photo ID and verification of home address.

Reading Lists

Staff is happy to assist in creating reading lists and locating materials to support your classroom curriculum. Contact the Children's Desk for more information.
