MPK Bruggemeyer Library Announces 2023 Summer Reading Challenge for Children, Teens and Adults

Readers of all ages are encouraged to participate in the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library’s 2023 Summer Reading Challenge. This year’s theme is Find Your Voice! Beginning June 6, 2023, children, teens and adults can register for the program by visiting montereypark.beanstack.org or downloading the Beanstack app. Throughout the summer participants can keep track of their reading to receive prizes and virtual badges. The program also features free activities and events for all ages including crafts, movie screenings and special performances.  

Children’s Summer Reading Challenge

Children ages 0-12 can keep track of the hours they read or listen to books over the summer to earn virtual badges and prizes, including Panda Express and Raising Cane’s rewards, and a free book. Children will receive a raffle ticket for every four hours that they read for a chance to win a grand prize.  

Teen Summer Reading Challenge

Teens ages 12-18 can earn prizes by completing activities and reading or listening to books, comics, magazines, newspapers and articles. Teens will receive a free book for registering, and those who complete 12 hours of reading will receive an international snack pack. Complete five activities for a chance to win a Rocketbook.  

Adult Summer Reading Challenge

Adults ages 18 & up can earn prizes by completing activities and reading or listening to books, magazines, newspapers and articles. Adults will receive a free book for registering, and those who complete 12 hours of reading will receive a pedometer. Complete five activities for a chance to win a set of pickleball paddles.  

Teens and adults who complete the Summer Reading Challenge and complete five activities will be entered to win a pair of tickets to the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, the USC Pacific Asia Museum or the Pasadena Symphony and POPS.  

The Summer Reading Challenge continues through July 29 and is sponsored by the Friends of the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.
