The City of Monterey Park Recreation and Community Services Department invites residents to join a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration at the Sequoia Park Playground on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 4 p.m. at 750 Ridgecrest Avenue in Monterey Park. Residents are invited to attend the ribbon cutting and stay to play on the newly installed playground.
The project provides a new play structure for children ages 2-5 years and one for ages 5-12. In an effort to provide destination-themed playgrounds throughout Monterey Park, Sequoia Park Playground is nature themed. Decorated with pond reeds, butterflies and a tree house, the playground combines physical and mental stimulation to keep children active and encourage imaginative play. The playground is made of recycled materials, providing a more sustainable future for the residents of Monterey Park.
The Sequoia Park Playground Project is the second of seven new playgrounds in the City of Monterey Park following the recently opened Edison Trails Playground in December. New destination themed playgrounds are coming to Bella Vista, Highlands and Garvey Ranch Parks. These themed playgrounds encourage imaginative play, increase confidence and offer educational opportunities. Residents and visitors are encouraged to visit each of the themed playgrounds and parks throughout the city.
