On May 28, 2023 at approximately 12:33 p.m., the Monterey Park Police Department responded to the 1800 block of S. Atlantic Blvd. regarding a sexual assault in progress investigation. Monterey Park Police Department received information that a male suspect had tackled a female walking in the area and was possibly assaulting her.
With the assistance from the community, Monterey Park Police Department arrived on scene and located the suspect attempting to flee the area.
The Monterey Park Police Department arrested the suspect for 220(a)(1) PC, assault with the intent to commit rape. The suspect is identified as Rudy Barboza, 37 from El Monte and currently on active parole. Barboza remains in custody with bail of $1,100,000.
