The City of Monterey Park is aware that agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division served a search warrant on the 600 block of North Rural Drive earlier this morning.
At this time, the City has not been provided with additional details regarding the nature of the investigation or the outcome of the operation. The Monterey Park Police Department was not involved in this federal law enforcement activity.
Consistent with Senate Bill 54, the California Values Act, Monterey Park City Council Resolution 2024-R96, and Monterey Park Police Department Policy 413, Monterey Park Police Officers do not enforce federal immigration laws. Monterey Park officers do not question individuals about their immigration status, do not hold federal detainees in the City’s jail, and do not participate in federal immigration enforcement operations.
The City of Monterey Park remains firmly committed to protecting the safety, dignity, and rights of all its residents. On July 2, 2025, the Monterey Park City Council voted unanimously to authorize the City Attorney to take all necessary actions to intervene in a federal lawsuit, “Perdomo, et al. v. Noem, et al.,” filed that same day in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
By participating in this case, the City seeks to support legal efforts to halt these practices and ensure that federal agencies are held accountable for any violations of constitutional and human rights. Monterey Park has joined the coalition of voices across California and the nation calling for transparency, fairness, and justice in immigration enforcement.
In addition, the City Council expressed unanimous support for two key pieces of state legislation, Senate Bill 627 – “No Secret Police Act” and Senate Bill 805 – “No Vigilantes Act.”
The City encourages residents to seek support and guidance through trusted community organizations and legal resources. As always, if you are a victim of a crime, a witness, or someone in need of police assistance, please call the Monterey Park Police Department. Your immigration status will not be questioned.
