[ARCHIVED] City of Monterey Park Invites Design Proposals for January 21 Memorial

City of Monterey Park seeks design proposals for a January 21 memorial honoring victims and survivor

The City of Monterey Park invites qualified design professionals to submit plans for a thoughtful and lasting permanent memorial honoring the victims, survivors, and all those affected by the tragic events of January 21, 2023. On that evening, a mass shooting occurred at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park during Lunar New Year celebrations. Eleven individuals lost their lives and nine others were injured in this event which deeply impacted the Monterey Park community and resonated across the nation.  

Qualified architects, landscape architects, civil engineering firms, or design teams are invited to submit proposals for the Design and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates for the City of Monterey Park January 2023 Memorial at City Hall. The deadline to submit is July 31, 2025 at 2 p.m.  

A pre-proposal non-mandatory virtual meeting will be held on July 15, 2025 at 10 a.m. If interested, please email zmazboudi@montereypark.ca.gov.
