[ARCHIVED] Monterey Park Police Issue Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Tips

Graphic regarding catalytic converter theft prevention.

The Monterey Park Police Department wants to remind residents that catalytic converter thieves can remove an automobile’s converter in mere minutes — leaving vehicle owners with costly repairs. There are proactive steps you can take to protect your vehicle:

  • Install anti-theft devices or a catalytic converter shield.
  • Park in well-lit and secure areas.
  • Engrave your VIN on the converter.
  • Report suspicious behavior immediately.

These measures can significantly reduce the risk of theft. By staying informed and prepared, you can safeguard your vehicle and avoid the inconvenience and expense associated with catalytic converter theft.

If you see something, say something! In an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergencies, please call Monterey Park Police at 626-573-1311.
