The Planning Commission is a quasi-judicial body consisting of five members who advise the council on policies and legislation relating to the regulation of growth, development, and environmental conditions affecting the city. The commission investigates and makes recommendations on zone changes, specific plan revisions, subdivision maps, and decides on zone variances and conditional use permits, subject to appeal to the City Council. Members on this commission must be a Monterey Park resident. This commission is subject to the Conflict of Interest Code.
