Construction Inspection Information
Work for which a permit is required must be inspected by the city in accordance with Section 110 of the California Building Standards Code as amended by the City of Monterey Park. Items listed on the job-site Inspection Card are intended as a guide to help you understand when an inspection is required. If there is any doubt about whether an inspection is required, please contact the Building Division or speak to a building inspector.
In addition to city inspections, continuous or periodic Special Inspections are required per Section 110.3.9 and Section 1704. The special inspector must be pre-qualified by the Building Official and registered with the city before performing any inspection in this jurisdiction.
Where Structural Observation by the architect or engineer of record is required, it is the permittee's responsibility to notify the architect or engineer at proper stages of construction to perform the observation.
Special inspection and structural observation are in addition to the inspections that are identified in Section 110.
All requests for inspection must be made through the Accela Citizen Access website or the Inspection Hot-Line at 626-307-1229.
Inspection days are Monday through Thursday, except on Holidays.
Requests for inspection received before 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday (except on Holidays) will usually be scheduled for the following inspection day. Inspections are made between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. No appointment will be made for construction inspections, however, a three-hour window may be provided after 8:00 a.m. on the day of the inspection. To verify an inspection has been scheduled, please log on to the Accela Citizen Access website or call 626-307-1300 on the morning of the inspection.
