Join Us in Remembrance: The Candlelight Vigil for the January 21 Shooting
The City of Monterey Park invites the community to join together for a remembrance of the tragic events that took place on January 21, 2023. The candlelight vigil is an opportunity for the community to come together in unity and support. The event will provide a space for reflection and healing as we honor the memory of the victims of the January 21 shooting and stand together against violence.
Date: Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Monterey Park City Hall Front Lawn, 320 West Newmark Avenue, Monterey Park, 91754.
Event will proceed rain or shine.
Tentative Schedule (subject to change):
Prelude 5-6 p.m.
- 5-5:30 p.m., Buddhist Chanting with Tzu Chi.
- 5-5:30 p.m., Christian Prayer with Jesse Chang and Abner Ramos.
- 5:30-5:45 p.m., Mark Keppel High School String Quintet.
- 5:45 p.m., Tongva Blessing with Chief Anthony Morales and Andrew Morales.
Vigil 6 p.m.
- City of Monterey Park Elected Officials remarks.
- Remarks from survivors, family and community members.
