During the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival, businesses located within the festival area (see map) may conduct sidewalk sales during the following times:
- Saturday, January 31, 2026: 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Sunday, February 1, 2026: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Sidewalk sales are permitted only if all of the following requirements are met:
1. The display area cannot project more than three (3) feet from the front of the building and no wider than the frontage of the building. The remaining sidewalk shall not be obstructed at any time;
2. The display area must be on a table, display rack, or portable shelving and shall be placed against the building. The placement of merchandise on the ground is not permitted;
3. No merchandise can be displayed or dumped on the public sidewalk;
4. The display of merchandise must be presented in an orderly and professional manner;
5. Only merchandise sold in the store can be sold as part of the sidewalk sale;
6. No used or second-hand merchandise can be sold;
7. No food items prepared or otherwise can be sold from a sidewalk sale; and
8. No temporary advertisement or signs will be permitted as part of the sidewalk sale other than the advertisement for the merchandise. Such signs shall not be more than two (2) square feet and done in a professional manner.
City of Monterey Park staff will be on site and will strictly enforce these requirements. Any sidewalk sale found in violation must be removed immediately.
